Interested in cosplay? Not sure where to start? Join veteran cosplayer, Denny McDermott, for a discussion on costuming for your everyday life–from conventions to renaissance faires, and everything in between!
Cosplay, or costume play, is a unique art that combines costuming, sewing, arts and crafts, and acting. Because cosplayers don’t just get into costume–many get into character! Learning to become your favorite historical figure, cartoon character, superhero, or other famous figure takes time, dedication, and talent. But there are a lot of inside tips and tricks that can make it a less expensive (and more fun!) hobby for everyone!
Denny has been cosplaying for a number of years, and primarily focuses on female costumes. Her most popular are Mabel Pines from Gravity Falls and Rapunzel from Disney’s Tangled, but she has played other roles, as well. She is also a photographer and creative writer, which she incorporates into her character play.
Both teens and adults are invited to join us for this hour-long presentation, followed by a Q&A. Plus, learn more about Denny’s monthly cosplay club, coming soon to Blackstone Library!
