Our 3D print club is expanding its repertoire! Introducing our exciting, ongoing project: building a robot arm. These classes will show how 3D modeling, 3D printing, electrical components like servos and step motors, as well as a programmable microchip like the Arduino, can all be used in concert to create a unique and functional electronic device. The aim is to design and build a robot arm from scratch. Ideally, the arm will be fully articulated, capable of grabbing and moving small objects, and be controlled using a wireless controller. We will create every aspect of the arm over the course of a number of classes. This includes designing the various parts, printing them, assembling them, attaching the requisite electronics and wiring, building the controller and programming it to work.
It is ideal but not required for you to have already at least taken the intro to 3D printing class. However, because we will be working on this as a group, interesting beginners are welcome to come. We will do our best to provide value to all interested attendees.
