Interested in cosplay? Not sure where to start?
Mature teens and adults are invited to join veteran cosplayer, Denny McDermott, for a monthly opportunity to show off your latest creations, get tips and tricks from fellow cosplayers, use the library’s sewing machines and 3D printer (free!) and work together on building costumes for cons, ren fairs, LARP, and everyday life!
Cosplay, or costume play, is a unique art that combines costuming, sewing, arts and crafts, and acting. Because cosplayers don’t just get into costume–many get into character! Learning to become your favorite historical figure, cartoon, superhero, or other famous figure takes time, dedication, and talent. But there are a lot of inside tips and tricks that can make it a less expensive (and more fun!) hobby!
Denny has been cosplaying for a number of years, and primarily focuses on female costumes. Her most popular are Mabel Pines from Gravity Falls and Rapunzel from Disney’s Tangled, but she has played other roles, as well. She is also a photographer and creative writer, which she incorporates into her character play.
