Understanding Eating Disorders

Thursday, July 23

5:00 pm - 7:00 pm

Eating disorders can often be difficult to understand and cope with. If you or someone you love has been affected by an eating disorder, join us for a lecture by Gina MacDonald, MA, LPC, CEDS. She’ll give an overview of disorders such as anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating, and exercise induced anorexia/bulimia, as well as evidence based treatments and other associated conditions such as anxiety, depression, and obsessive compulsive disorder.

Gina Macdonald has worked with those struggling with eating disorders and body image dissatisfaction for more than 25 years in hospital settings and treatment programs throughout CT. Her expertise in clinical therapy as a Licensed Professional Counselor, Expressive Art Therapy Graduate Degree from Lesley University, and extensive training in yoga and mindfulness inspired her book Mind Your Own Body, A Body Image Handbook (2019) which will be referenced in the lecture.
